As yet another dismally grey day descends, I like to think of brighter times where the weather was warm and my sun activation mode was entirely engaged. (Fun fact: I am solar powered!) A couple weeks ago, everything aligned to be able to shoot a lovely piece I was sent by Pinup Girl Clothing in California. When I saw the bright blue hue and Peter Pan-esque collar I knew immediately that I had to style this into a look befitting a modern Wendy Darling.

Photographed by The Gluttonous Geek. This dress, known as the Madison, is a lovely spring piece, great for those pesky in between seasons. I was expecting the fabric to be a lightweight cotton, but instead it’s a durable poly-blend of rayon, nylon, and spandex. It might not sound like it, but it’s very comfy. I suffer from health issues often that leave me great pain, so I’m always on the hunt for good-looking comfy clothes. The Madison definitely fits in that category (sans belt, but it still looks adorable without it!). It hugs just the right curves and hits at a great flattering hemline for most body types.

The belt can be worn high up under the chest, as pictured here, or lower on the waist. I chose to put it higher simply to mimic Wendy’s empire waist dress.

Because let’s face it, Wendy likes to scold Peter a LOT.

And hellooooo POCKETS! Oh yes, this dress comes fully armed with that secret weapon we women so desire and rarely get. I’ve been so pleased to see how many of Pinup Girl Clothing’s dresses have pockets. My compliments to the designer!

For future styling notes, I would add at least one piece of Peter Pan jewelry and do tighter Shirley Temple ringlet curls in the back. But bless my friend Angie for attempting to curl my stubborn hair (that, as you can see, fell down almost immediately. My hair pretty much refuses to hold a curl. I think it detests curling irons for some reason). But this look would be perfect for a Wendy Disneybound for Dapper Day or even a themed picnic!
